In order to strengthen the promotion and protection of patents in this city, accelerate independent innovation and quicken the construction of innovative city, Zhengzhou of Henan province passed "Regulations on Patent Promotion and Protection" on June 25 during the 3rd Meeting of the 13th Session of Zhengzhou Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee.

"Regulations" clearly state that enterprises and institutions are urged to work out patent strategy and patent technology standardization strategy, master patents of core technologies, strengthen the implementation and promotion of patents. And individuals are also encouraged to develop inventions and apply for patents.

Besides that, the "Regulations" give incentive to the implementation and transfer of patented technologies. Relevant governmental departments should give priority to those projects with core competitiveness.

To increase the support on patent transfer and application, the "Regulations" provide that Municipal People's Government will set up patent award, rewarding patent right holders who develop inventions and carry out them in this city, and have outstanding contributions in boosting the economic and social development of Zhengzhou.

Furthermore, in accordance with the "Regulations", people's governments of cities, counties and districts will establish special funds for patent promotion and protection.
