The survey about“the Economic Contribution of China’s Copyright Industry in 2017” released by China Academy of Press and Publication on December 25 indicated that in 2017, China’s copyright industry saw 6081.092 billion yuan in its industrial value added, accounting for 7.35% of the national GDP; among which, the value added of key copyright industry reached 3815.59 billion yuan, taking up 4.61% of the national GDP, up by 0.03 percentage points from that of previous year.

According to the official of National Intellectual Property Administration of China (CNIPA), since the 18th CPC National Congress, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council have attached great importance to the IP-related work including copyright and carried out the IPR strategy in a profound manner. The copyright industry nationwide continues to improve the copyright supervision system by innovating the mechanism and system, launches special operations for governance, like “Jianwang” Action, promotes the copyright publicity, training and model building, nurtures the copyright trading service platform and increases the effort on copyright protection, which has greatly raised the social service level related to copyright, enhanced significantly the public awareness about copyright and achieved sound industrial development of copyright.

Statistics show that from 2013 to 2017, the industrial value added of China’s copyright industry increased from 4272.593 billion yuan to 6081.092 billion yuan, up by 42% in terms of industrial scale over five years. Its share in the national economy grew from 7.27% to 7.35%; in particular, fast growth was achieved in the key copyright industry represented by digital information technology, mobile gaming and online audio-visual, thus making positive contributions to advancing the high-quality economic development of China.
