On December 18, Guangdong IP Protection Center was founded and Chen Liangxian, Vice Governor attended the inaugurating ceremony.

According to the Plan of Guangdong on Institutional Reform, the newly established Guangdong IPR Protection Center will be set up and operate in parallel with China (Guangzhou) IPR Protection Center and Guangzhou Trademark Examination Coordination Center and integrate the functions of Guangdong IPR Research and Development Center (Guangdong IPR Protection Aid Center), which is administered by Guangdong Administration for Market Regulation.

Guangdong IPR Protection Center will undertake the key tasks of implementing the IPR strategy and building an IP-empowered Guangdong as well as the work on building the IPR protection and public service system and the IPR protection assistance and handling mechanism and system; carrying out the international and regional communication and cooperation, and the IPR cross-border cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Area; undertaking the work on patent pre-review and trademark examination delegated by the CNIPA and providing strong service and support for the society in terms of fast IPR examination, fast IPR protection, IPR resource development, transformation, utilization, navigation and operation, etc.
