According to the latest statistics of Anhui Provincial Intellectual Property Office, the amount of patent applications in Huangshan reached 284 pieces in 2009, overfulfilled the target (240 pieces) issued by Provincial Intellectual Property Office, increased 99 than 2008 and the growth rate was 53.5%. Of which invention patents were 57 and utility model were 64. Meanwhile, the authorization amount was 165 and increased by 77.4% compared with 2008.

In 2009, Huangshan adopted a series of effective measures to do the IP work especially patent application work well. The first was releasing a series of policy documents including "IP Joint Meeting System of Municipal Government" and "Division of Tasks for the Implementation of National IP Strategy in Huangshan"; the second was implementing objective responsibility management, which issues objectives and tasks to each district and county and put the accomplishment situation of tasks into annual works. The third was enhancing the whole society's awareness and enthusiasm on patent application and protection with the methods of publicity and training and administrative law enforcement; the fourth was enhancing patent consultation service, which provides consultation and direction for patent application and transform of enterprises; and the last was promoting the construction of enterprises' ability on independent innovation.
